NH Recycles is now accepting session proposals for an upcoming training and networking event for municipal recycling and solid waste professionals across New Hampshire and New England. We’re looking for practical, on-the-ground sessions that help communities run safer, stronger, and more cost-effective programs—plus big-picture perspectives that help us plan for what’s next.
If you have a program, tool, case study, or solution to share, we’d love to hear from you.
Submit Your Presentation Proposal
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome proposals from:
- Municipal staff and elected officials
- Transfer station and recycling facility operators
- State agencies and regional partners
- Processors, haulers, and manufacturers using recycled materials
- Retailers and product sellers connected to key waste streams (e.g., vape shops, e-bike shops)
- Trainers and subject-matter experts (safety, communications, conflict management, policy, budgeting)
Sessions should be action-oriented and relevant to municipal operations. Priority will be given to proposals that include clear takeaways participants can apply right away.
Suggested Session Topics
You do not need to match these exactly—these are simply examples of the kinds of sessions attendees are requesting.
Transfer Station Operations & Facility Management
- How to set up and run a successful swap shop
- Contamination reduction strategies that work
- Budgeting for transfer stations: building and managing a realistic budget
- Full Cost Accounting: how to understand the true cost of managing materials
- Zero-waste pathways: long-term investments and practical steps for facilities
- First Amendment considerations at municipal facilities (and what staff need to know)
Staff Training & Public Interaction
- Conflict management and de-escalation: handling difficult interactions with the public
- Communication tools for redirecting behavior and improving compliance
Recycling Markets & End Use
- The recycling process from the bin to end markets
- Meet the manufacturers: companies using recycled materials in their products
- The economic value of recycling vs. disposal
Emerging & Challenging Waste Streams
- Plastics: what municipalities need to know and what residents are asking
- Batteries, vapes, and e-mobility: safe handling, collection, and program design
(We’re especially interested in panels that include both sellers and waste managers.) - Electronics recycling: where materials go and what they become
- Single stream recycling: what happens downstream and how to explain it to residents
Policy, Funding, and Statewide Priorities
- What’s happening in solid waste and recycling in New Hampshire
- Grants and funding opportunities (used oil, surcharge funds, food waste, HHW, and more)
- How the waste disposal surcharge connects to grants and program support

Session Formats
We’re open to different session styles, including:
- Presentations (40-50 minutes with time for questions at the end)
- Panels (especially for vapes/batteries, plastics, and manufacturer/end-use topics)
- Workshops or trainings (highly encouraged for budgeting, Full Cost Accounting, and staff skills)
Please note: If a speaker can only present remotely, we may recommend hosting the content as a webinar or a future NH Recycles MOM meeting rather than a live conference session.
How to Submit
Please submit a proposal that includes:
- Session title and description (2–4 sentences)
- Presenter name(s), organization(s), and brief bio(s)
- Learning objectives / key takeaways (3–5 bullets)
- Intended audience (operators, municipal staff, elected officials, vendors, etc.)
- Preferred format (presentation, panel, workshop)
- Any AV or room needs
