Does that aluminum can you put in the recycling bin actually get recycled? What happens to glass collected at a New Hampshire transfer station? Why are lithium-ion batteries such a serious safety concern? And with limited landfill capacity in New Hampshire, how does recycling fit into the bigger picture? NH Recycles Executive Director Andrea Folsom recently joined host Liz Canada on the New Hampshire Has Issues podcast to tackle those questions and more — starting with perhaps the biggest one of all: Is recycling real? The answer: Yes. Recycling is working in New Hampshire. During the episode, Andrea walks listeners through what...

We are celebrating a major milestone in NH Recycles’ history: after 25 years of property ownership, the mortgage on our headquarters has been paid in full. Paying off a mortgage may not seem like the most visible organizational achievement, but it represents something important for NH Recycles and our members: long-term stability. Owning our office building gives us a permanent home, greater control over our future, and a strong financial foundation from which we can continue serving communities across New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts for years to come. This fall, NH Recycles is hitting the road again for our annual Fall Bus Tour — and this year, we’re staying right here in New Hampshire! On Thursday, October 15, we’ll visit two municipal transfer stations and one of New England’s largest processors of construction and demolition debris. Along the way, attendees will get a close-up look at different approaches to recycling and waste diversion, learn how facilities find value in materials that might otherwise be disposed of, and have plenty of time to ask questions and swap ideas with fellow operators. The tour is designed especially for municipal solid waste operators working in...
