Site Locations and Details:

At the Town of Candia Recycling Center, recycling is seen as a priority for keeping costs down. This is important because trash that goes to a landfill is the most expensive means of disposal. Between the avoided cost of not land-filling recyclable materials, and adding the revenue we get by recycling, the Recycling Center has saved more than a million dollars since opening in 2008. Candia has a successful non-ferrous metal recycling program that allows them to bring in revenue for the town.

ReSource Waste Services in Epping, NH is the largest processor of C&D wood waste in New England. The facility accepts a wide variety of C&D waste from waste handlers, demolition contractors, roofers, landscapers, property managers, contractors, clean-out companies and homeowners. The facility processes virtually all solid, non-hazardous C&D waste, recovering components of value and transforming them into reusable commodities.

The Town of Barrington Transfer Station values providing their residents with a safe, simple, and clean location to properly dispose of trash, recyclables, and other approved materials. The facility operates under a Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) system for trash and offers single-stream recycling, with glass collected separately to reduce processing costs and improve recycling efficiency.

The tour includes a luxury bus that leaves from Epsom, NH. The bus has comfortable seating, wi-fi, and a bathroom. Staff at each site location will host a walking tour of their facility. Each tour will be about 1.25 - 1.75 hours. Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and prepare to be standing for most of the day! We will be walking a lot on uneven surfaces.

Attendance counts for at least 6 hours of continuing professional development credit for the NHDES Solid Waste Operator Certification.

A Note on Attendee Limitations

Every year, our annual bus tour sells out, so we do our best to make room for operators to join us from as many towns as possible. Because space is limited, priority is given to municipal member staff that are certified solid waste facility operators.

For member towns with multiple certified solid waste facility operators, the first 2 operators from each municipality that sign up will be given a spot on the bus. After that, any additional operators will be added to a waitlist and, if there happens to be space on the bus once registration closes, they will also be given a spot on the bus. Similarly, associate members, Recycling Committee members, and other municipal employees or volunteers will also be waitlisted and may be added to the tour as space allows on the bus.
