Some people see signs of spring in the return of robins or the buckets filling with rising maple sap. At NH Recycles, we notice another seasonal signal across New Hampshire: road weight limit signs.
Many towns post seasonal load limits in the spring to reduce wear and damage to roads as the ground begins to thaw. If your facility is located on a posted road, waste haulers may need an exemption letter from the town in order to continue servicing your location during the posting period.
If a truck driver sees that a road is posted and does not have an exemption letter, they may not be able to service your facility until the road is unposted.
If your community manages recycling through NH Recycles—including services such as tire or C&D recycling—you can send your exemption letter(s) to NH Recycles and we will share them when scheduling your pickups.
Communities may provide individual letters for each hauler or one letter covering all waste haulers serving the facility.
Please email exemption letters to info@nhrecycles.org.
