Celebrating Six Years of Service to NH Recycles

NH Recycles extends our sincere thanks to Scott Hazelton for his dedicated service on the Board of Trustees from February 2020 through March 2026.

Scott brought to the Board a valuable combination of technical expertise, municipal leadership, and hands-on operational experience. Throughout his six-year tenure, he consistently offered thoughtful insight and a practical perspective grounded in the day-to-day realities facing New Hampshire’s transfer stations and public works departments.

Scott’s career spans decades of work in civil and environmental engineering and municipal leadership. In Farmington, he managed the Highway Department, Transfer Station, and Buildings and Grounds, overseeing the cap and closure of the State’s last unlined landfill and the development of the Town’s first transfer station.

He went on to serve the Town of Sunapee as Highway Director and later as Zoning, Planning, and Community Development Director, where he improved transfer station operations, launched a successful swap shop, and partnered with the NHDES Solid Waste Bureau on a pilot composting project that serves as a model for other communities.

Now serving as Administrator of the Subsurface Systems Bureau at the NH Department of Environmental Services, Scott continues his commitment to protecting public health and the environment across the state.

During his time on the NH Recycles Board of Trustees, Scott was a steady voice—focused on practical solutions and ensuring NH Recycles’ work remains relevant and useful to the municipalities we serve.

Scott’s contributions have made a lasting impact on the organization and the broader recycling community.

We are grateful for his service and wish him all the best in his continued work.
