🚨 Help keep transfer station operators safe.

Scrap metal piles can hide serious hazards β€” including batteries, fuel, propane tanks, and items containing refrigerants. When these materials are crushed or damaged, they can spark fires or even explosions, putting staff, equipment, and facilities at risk.

Fires caused by hidden batteries and fuels are a growing safety concern across recycling facilities, with incidents causing major damage and injuries.

Before you drop off scrap metal, take a moment to remove anything explosive or fuel-containing. When in doubt β€” ask an attendant.
