Andrea Folsom is the Education & Grants Manager* of NH Recycles and a certified Senior Principal Solid Waste Operator in the State of New Hampshire. Andrea oversees all NH Recycles communications, including education and outreach through presentations, newsletters, social media, and website. She also works on current and future grant reports and proposals, including but not limited to USDA and EPA grants awarded to NH Recycles. She believes high quality and consistent recycling education is a necessary component of any successful recycling program, increasing the amount a community recycles while decreasing recycling contamination. Andrea focuses on creating engaging educational content that is accessible by a wide variety of individuals. Her work helps NH Recycles to improve their online presence and digital reach, thereby assisting and impacting more individuals and communities across New England.
Andrea brings extensive and varied communications and marketing experience to NH Recycles. Prior to joining in 2021, Andrea ran the successful and entirely-digital political campaign for a New Hampshire Senator. She worked as a licensed therapist specializing in crisis intervention for 10 years prior to moving back to New Hampshire. She also spearheaded a children's craft magazine for 6 years with both print and digital subscriptions. Andrea has worked as a freelance website designer for the past 10 years and often volunteers her communications and marketing skills to local nonprofits.
Andrea received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa and a degree in Psychology from Macalester College. She lives in Hopkinton, New Hampshire with her husband and two children and serves as the Chair of the Hopkinton School Board, on the Town of Hopkinton Economic Development Committee, and on the Hopkinton Waste Reduction Committee. Andrea is also an alumnus of Leadership New Hampshire Class of 2025 (best class ever...truly!)
